Boundary Surveys A boundary survey is performed in order to establish the boundaries of a parcel using its legal description and other supporting information such as occupation lines or survey markers legally recorded with the County Surveyor's Office. Boundary surveys can be as simple as locating and verifying the legally recorded corner monuments using maps or field notes available with the County Surveyor. They can be significantly more difficult if there are no official existing corner monuments for a specific piece of property, or if the existing deeds are unclear or ambiguous. Normally a boundary survey is not filed with the County Surveyor unless new monuments are placed around the property boundary. Filing a survey requires a map or plat that is created from the field data and describes the procedures used to provide a representation of the parcel surveyed. Reference Accounts
