Property Line Adjustment Surveys (PLA)
This type of boundary survey involves the relocation of a
common line between two abutting properties. No new properties are created. Most
Cities and Counties require a application process with their Planning
Department, and they will rule on said adjustments relative to the local land
development codes. The Planning Department will then issue a set of conditions
that includes a survey that sets corner monuments at the new location(s), and
then includes a map that is filed with the County Surveyor. In addition, the
surveyor will then provide legal descriptions to be used in conveyances between
the adjacent property owners to finalize the adjustment.
