About the Role
The position is based out of Corvallis, Oregon. We predominantly work within the valley, but
some of our projects take you along the mountain range and coast of the state. As our Survey
Party Chief, you will provide survey support to project managers to assist with the planning,
designing, and constructing of public and private infrastructure. The Party Chief will
support and expand Northstar's existing relationships with small communities
throughout the Willamette Valley/Coastal Region and our private sector clients. We
keep on a wide range of commercial, timber, and residential-type projects. This position will
require someone to work for a project manager on various tasks in the field with a lesser
experienced member of our team. If you are looking to get a taste of it all when it comes to
surveying experience, Northstar offers the opportunity to work on various project types such as
boundary & cadastral surveys, topographic mapping, construction layout, property line
adjustments, land partitions, and subdivisions, mortgage and ALTA certifications, FEMA flood
certifications, engineering design surveys, legal descriptions, and drone services.
Requirements
What can you expect from this position?
The opportunity to work under two Professional Oregon/California Licensed Land Surveyors.
Perform occasional out-of-town multi-day surveys covering the state of Oregon/Northern California.
Use of Trimble S series and GeoMax Robotics, Trimble R-12i, R-10s, and Carlson BRx7, GPS, Leica, and Nikon conventional instruments, Fantom and Skydio drones.
A company vehicle will be provided for all work-related support efforts and can be driven during your commute to and from work.
The ability to grow in your field of expertise while working towards your PLS Certification.
Training to further your career will be paid for, including a secondary school, a drone pilot license, and other survey-related training.
You will be working with a team of geomatics professionals and a company supporting your success.
What qualifications are we looking for?
3+ years of surveying experience
Utilizing industry-standard field surveying practices and procedures.
Understanding of Professional field surveying practices and procedures.
Proficient in data collection, stakeout, and other equipment and file management.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Software as it relates to down/uploading survey files.
The ability to calculate record boundaries from record maps.
Responsible for the use and care of survey equipment.
